In this paper, periodic motions in a periodically excited, Duffing oscillator with a time-delayed displacement are investigated through the Fourier series, and the stability and bifurcation of such periodic motions are discussed through eigenvalue analysis. The time-delayed displacement is from the feedback control of displacement. The analytical bifurcation trees of period-1 motions to chaos i...

In the present study, some perturbation methods are applied to Duffing equations having a displacement time-delayed variable to study the stability of such systems. Two approaches are considered to analyze Duffing oscillator having a strong delayed variable. The homotopy perturbation method is applied through the frequency analysis and nonlinear frequency is formulated as a function of all the ...

The forced Duffing oscillator is investigated by intentional time-delayed displacement feedback by fast Fourier transform based incremental harmonic balance method along with continuation technique (FFT-IHBC). FFT-IHBC can efficiently develop frequency response curves with all stable and unstable solutions and solution branches. Appreciable reduction in peak value of response and gradual reduct...

A robust adaptation scheme for the delay of a continuous-time chaos control with half-period delayed feedback is presented. The phase-difference between the measured signal and the delayed measurement control is detected to adjust the delay to its optimum. The method when applied to the Lorenz and the Duffing oscillator shows high robustness. Copyright © 2002 IFAC

To obtain new ways of detecting weak signals, we analyzed the motion of a Duffing oscillator in different input states by solving the Duffing equation and then elaborating on the basic principles of weak signal detection based on Duffing oscillator phase-change characteristics. The experiment that shows how to achieve weak signal detection with a Duffing oscillator based on virtual instrument t...

In this paper, the bifurcation and chaotic motion of a piecewise Duffing oscillator with delayed displacement feedback under harmonic excitation are studied. Based on Melnikov method, necessary critical conditions for in system obtained, chaos threshold curve is obtained by calculation numerical simulation. The accuracy analytical result proved some typical simulation results, including local d...

We study mechanical amplification and noise squeezing in a nonlinear nanomechanical resonator driven by an intense pump near its dynamical bifurcation point, namely, the onset of Duffing bistability. Phase sensitive amplification is achieved by a homodyne detection scheme, where the displacement detector's output, which has a correlated spectrum around the pump frequency, is down-converted by m...

Due to great noise interference and strong signal attenuation in low voltage power line, two Duffing oscillator methods is proposed to detect QPSK carrier signal. At the same time, after analyzing the law of system solution of Duffing Oscillator, the algorithm of difference distribution of system solution is proposed to identify phase transition, which can greatly decrease calculation. The expe...

Weak signal detection is very important in the downhole acoustic telemetry system. This paper introduces the Duffing oscillator weak signal detection method for the downhole acoustic telemetry systems. First, by solving the Duffing equation, analyzed the dynamics characteristic of Duffing oscillator and weak signal detection principle; and then on this basis, built Duffing oscillator circuit ba...

Chaos theory has a manifold variety of applications in science and engineering. There are many systems in nature with several stable states, which are separated by energy barriers. When the system can move along the stable states, its dynamics can become quite complex. A simple mechanical model that depicts some of these complex dynamical features is the famous Duffing double-well oscillator (1...
